Sea Venom DH-112 F(AW) Mk 53 WZ907

Aircraft Company, England in June 1955 WZ907 was dispatched to the RAN Fleet Air Arm on HMAS Melbourne in February 1956. She operated with 808 squadron, Naval Air Station, Nowra until February 1960 and then with 724 Squadron until January 1961, thereafter being transferred to 805 Squadron on HMAS Melbourne. In July 1962 the Sea Venom was transferred back to Naval Air Station, Nowra and operated again with 724 Squadron until being removed from active service in October 1963. The aircraft was stored at Hawker De Havilland, Bankstown pending disposal and the Museum acquired her in May 1967. The Sea Venoms were used as frontline jet fighters by the Fleet Air Arm, replacing the piston-engined Sea Furies themselves being replaced by Skyhawks.
