Canberra (cockpit) Mk 20 A84-209

A84-209 was built at GAF Melbourne, manufactures No 9, as a medium bomber and was received on the 17 November 1954 to 82 Wing, 1 B.O.C.U. It was placed in storage in December 1968 and struck off charge in November 1971 and disposed of in July 1973. The Museum acquired the cockpit in July 1988. Canberra aircraft operated with 1, 2 and 6 Squadron at Amberley, Queensland and with 2 Squadron in Butterworth, Malaya and from April 1967 to March 1971 in Vietnam where they flew 11,963 sorties, dropping 59 million pounds of bombs for the loss of two aircraft.
